Modern
Our first Premium Theme for ActiveCollab 2.3+.

Since we released the free Access theme for activeCollab, we learnt a lot about activeCollab and how its user interface could be further improved. With that knowledge and our passion to improve user experience, we created the first premium theme for activeCollab called Modern.

Unique Features

• Liquid Layout Design Make the most of your screen real estate with scaling widths
• Classic Icon Bars for Recent Activities Identify easily “at-a-glance” your project’s activities
• Highlighted Action Fields Input fields for comments, search, attachments, tasks etc. are highlighted to prompt action
• Untouched Default Logo Your logo will now always survive theme upgrades
• It’s Icon-tastic Option lists and Sidebar functions are made clearer with those helpful little graphics
• Easy to customise Modern is designed to adapt your business or website’s branding through a background image. *Results vary depending on your background, and typically darker images work better. (We’ll make some ‘how to’ guides and examples on this, plus we’re planning to expand this to customising the colours for links etc.)

Edit this CSS line to customise the background.

How can I change the link colours?

Link colours can be customised in the Modern/theme.css file. Open this file in a CSS editor or Notepad and find the line (near the top about lines 50 to 85):
a,
#pages .object_list td a,
.object_list .discussions td a,
.object_list .documents_table td a
{
color: #3088CF /* Modern blue */ ;
}
Change the HEX colour value as required.
Note: There are a number of link colours that are editable here. We have also written some style notes the theme.css file to help with editing.

My customisations have disappeared after upgrading?

Unfortunately all edits to the theme.css file are really 'hacks' that will not survive theme upgrades. We highly recommend making backups of existing themes and customisations before upgrading.

We are working to find an alternative means where customisations would not be affected by future upgrades.

How can I create my logo so it has a transparent background?

Ask your designer to create a transparent PNG version of your logo for activeCollab. Then rename the extension of this file to logo.GIF and upload it to www.your-activecollab.com/public/brand/ directory here.

ActiveCollab looks for the logo.GIF file to display, while the web browser will read the PNG image correctly. It's win-win and will also survive premium theme upgrades.

What are themes?

ActiveCollab describes themes the best:

"activeCollab themes let you change the look and feel of the application without changing any core files"

"Themes are per user setting, meaning that every user can pick their favourite theme from Change Settings page of his profile. Administrators can select a default theme that is automatically selected when users are created. When default theme in administration is changed, all user specific settings are dropped and theme is reset for everyone to default theme."

Hello, Thats a real nice theme!!! Will you provide a live demonstration of the theme? Regards, Dan

Yes, a demo for all our themes is in the pipeline. However it won't be on a live functioning version of activeCollab - instead it will be a static demo consisting of some key pages, so you'll be able to get a feel of the theme and how it looks in different browsers.
