  1. Hello,

Just wanted to let you know, that the latest aC 2.2.2 update breaks the theme’s buttons for save/add etc. Any chance of fixing that?

    Best,
    Sebastian

    • Hey Sebastian,

Yes I noticed this just before too and just made a quick hot fix post on the activecollab forums.

To solve the button issue in Access 1.1 & AC2.2.2, ADD the following code to the public/assets/themes/Access/theme.css file

      #auth_dialog button span span, button span span {background:none;padding:0;}
(Updated 16 Oct 09 with additional style)

We’ll include this fix in the next Access theme release :)

  2. Hey Leon,

I’ve seen some people incorporate Lightbox style image viewing into AC somewhere — have you ever used this with Access? I’d love to try this out, but haven’t wanted to mess with Access.

It’s still a great theme, never get tired of logging in to use it.

  3. Oh I found it on the AC website, thanks sorry for bothering!

    • Hey Ryan – I’ve verified that the download link above does work so not sure why it wasn’t working for you? Anyhow, glad you found the download link over on the activecollab website. :)

  4. Hmmm seems I can’t download the file. Is there another location perhaps? The file size also registers as 131,072kbs on a wget – hangs.

    Thanks!

  5. it doesn’t work
active the theme, all styles and images are gone …

  6. is this going to work on the old aC? 0.7?

  7. Not sure if this little typo/bug is known, but seems to be in the old Access and the updated 1.0 beta Access.

In the stylesheet, the following object style is misspelled, and thus the icon doesn’t show up.

    #menu_item_assignemnts

    It should be:
    #menu_item_assignments

  8. I absolutely love this theme for AC, it’s amazing. But I just have an issue with it though. Something’s wrong with the width of the layout; here’s a screenshot of what happens – http://bit.ly/hevxk. I’m using Firefox 3.5.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Mike.

    • I noticed this too and haven’t found a solution for it yet. I get it only if the sidebar (ie bookmarks) is open in Firefox. It looks like a width / position:relative; / overflow related problem.

We’ll keep looking for a fix – until then if anyone else has idea’s please let me know :)

  9. This theme is awesome, but I can’t get it to work in ‘projects/’ view at all. Am I doing something wrong?

    • We tested the Access on the projects page (both listings of projects and project views) and it does ‘work’. Could it be a caching issue? Try removing and/or refreshing your browsers cache and let us know how it goes :)

  10. Michelangelo Capraro says:

great, thanks leon! we cant live without your theme ;)

  11. Michelangelo Capraro says:

    hey there Leon,
have you guys tested in the source tab of the latest ActiveCollab beta? it looks a bit strange to me, not sure if its supposed to be working or not

    • Yes you’re right, the Source module dosen’t ‘fit in’ like it should.

The issue: normally there is a DIV with a specific ID for each page/module in activecollab and this helps control the styles within etc. Currently the Source module dosen’t have this so it’s hard to style it to ‘fit in’ with the Access theme.

We’ll be putting in a request to activecollab to add the DIV wrapper for the Source module – hopefully they can add it :)

  12. Hi
Fantastic plug in – turns Active Collab from just good functionality to a top end system (far superior to basecamp). Using Access 1.0 Beta 2 and bug found with chrome browser – when you scroll down in pages that have a text entry box (create page, ticket, etc) the size of the text box increases as you go so you can’t submit the page – makes chrome unusable.

  13. Awesome!!! Love that the “manage” and “edit” tabs don’t look like part of the regular tabs anymore. You are lovely.

    Thank You! =)

  14. Hi,
Great skin! We’ve got it running almost perfectly on aC 2.1.1

One thing though, the assignments.gif doesn’t show. Any chance of help?

    • Hi Doug,
Yes this is a bug – basically the spelling of assignments changed slightly between versions – To fix this, open theme.css file and around line 317

      change
      #menu_item_assignemnts

      to
      #menu_item_assignments

This bug is resolved in the next Access theme release :)

  15. OK. Last one, I promise. I just posted my wish list on ActiveCollab and has said I couldn’t do these things. So here is a link to the list: http://www.activecollab.com/forums/post/20355/#post20355 Take what you like and blow the rest away.

    =) Mandy

  16. ..one more “wish list” idea to add to the theme..

    * The ideal situation is for my clients and freelancers being able to login and know exactly what is what without too much explanation. One thing I find not self-evident is the Ticket list looks one dimentional. I have to tell them to click on the name so they can see the subtasks. It needs some visual cue to let them know to click on it, an “expand” button would be even nicer.

    xo

  17. Thank you! I am just now learning how awesome this theme is! I LOVE the look! Can I make a couple of requests?.. Take what you wish and blow the rest away.

    * Is is possible to have the “manage” tabs look different from the main tabs? Ie. in the Pages section there are my tabs that I labeled and then there is the “Manage Pages” at the bottom. Can get messy with customers and clients flipping through the tabs. Maybe a faded grey would convey this is a different sort of tab.
    * Somehow my customers and freelancers get a little lost from the main dashboard to getting to their project and finding which tabs to focus on. The hierarchy seems to not be suggestive enough if that makes any sense. I don’t know what this would look like.. but just my two cents.

Many thanx for adding to a wonderful application like ActiveCollab. This made my day today. I was spending hours trying to fumble around with my limited css knowledge – so MUCH appreciated.

    xo

    • Happy to hear you’re enjoying the theme! Thanks for your suggestions too – they’re valid points and I’ll look at working them into the theme. :)

    • A small follow up – Mandy I loved the idea of making the manage tab look different – it’s present in the theme from Access 1.0 Beta 2. I also made small design updates to the other tabs too – hope it helps your clients navigate around activeCollab better :)

  18. Hi there,

I am so excited to have found this theme! Thank you! I do have one issue I am hoping to find a solution to. My dashboard does not look like the clips you have above. It still has the same organization as the default activecollab theme. Is there something I am missing? *Note: I am using the new ActiveCollab 2.1 corporate. Also note, I am not a programmer.

    =)

    • Hi Mandy :)

The screen shots above are from an activeCollab 1.x install, and since the release of activeCollab 2.x there have A LOT of changes to the layout and functionality, which resulted in a lot of changes to the Access theme.

At the moment we have a beta version available of Access 1.0 which was quickly put together to ‘bridge the gap’ while we work on a more compatible version of Access to work with AC 2.x

      Stay tuned! ;)

  19. This is a great theme, thanks. FYI – in Firefox 3 (Mac) the columns break on some pages. For instance, on the “Active Projects” page the projects are listed, but the category list shows up below the list rather than to the side. (AC 2.1)

  20. Hi,

Thank you very much for creating this wonderful theme. We’re using the new AC version and your beta already looks quite nice.

The only problem is the “NEW” button on the toolbar, if I click on this the two boxes (Choose Project / Choose type) are below each other instead of side to side.

We didn’t see any other problems. Thank you very much!

  21. I’m guessing it’s custom too, but who knows there are a lot of fonts out — I did a search using What the Font? But this is what came back… I know they don’t have ever font on the site, but you’ll get some that have similar letters but not exact.

    * – had to edit out the original link, I guess What The Font? wasn’t letting me link directly to my results — sorry. Here’s the site though if you want to try http://www.whatthefont.com

If you’ve never used What the Font? it’s worth knowing about… I’ve saved myself a lot of searching this way :)

Hope you find that interesting, I’m not sure if Active Collab would want to give out the font or custom font they used — unless it’s being used in relationship to the AC project or a theme… but who knows.

Thanks again Leon — I agree wholeheartedly with Cesar, I was reminded of this yesterday when adding a new user that I work with to my AC and they were very impressed… that was part to do with AC and part to do with ACCESS I’m sure of it.

    Nathan

  22. Hi Leon,
First of all, what a beautiful theme, excellent job on this!

    I have one simple question:

    - What’s the font you used for the access logo?

I’ve found some similar fonts but not the same and I’ll really appreciate if you can tell me the name so I can search it.

Thanks and keep up the good work!

    • Thanks for the compliments!

The type used in the Access logo is actually custom made! What happened is the guys at activeCollab sent me a vector version of their logo, and from that I created the extra “C-E-S-S” letters, to form ‘Access’. I don’t know what the original ‘ac’ type is based on sorry.

If you like I can upload a vector version of the Access logo – from that you could create your own font/letters?

    Hi.
Found an error on the css @ line 317 :
    #menu_item_assignemnts …
    should be
    #menu_item_assignments …

the “e” is not on the right place.

    regards

    • Carlos Matias says:

      I was talking about 1.0beta /

      • Thanks Carlos,

I posted a bug fix for this in the aC forums with the same solution. It’s a bug you can have a small laugh with – activecollab changed the spelling on this ID from version 2.0.2 beta – every version prior to that was spelt “menu_item_assignemnts” and Access 1.0 was released to address version 2.0.1.

But I should have also mentioned this bug here – thanks for bringing it up :)

    • Carlos Matias says:

let me tell you Leon, that you did a GREAT job on Access. It’s a real pleasure to see it everyday on my browser.

      Thank you!
(hope you got a small fee on aC sales ;)

  24. @Leon — I wish I could help you with the new version…. I’m so eager to switch over to the new 2.0! :) Haha… hope you are well, just wanted you to know I’m “staying tuned” !

    Thanks again

  25. @Leon — Thanks! I am so eager to get the Incoming Mail module running, I think it’s going to considerably improve our workflow — so your news about an AC 2.0 compatible version is much anticipated.

I installed Access on a development install of the beta of 2.0 now — I see what you mean, a lot of things seem compatible and others seem a bit “wonky” … guess I can’t rush it and implement now, because my team and clients will be unhappy with me :) I will wait for your update, with ‘bated breath’ as they say.

  26. @Nathan

We’re really excited by activeCollab 2.0 too! I’ve downloaded and played around with it already, but unfortunately Access 0.3 doesn’t support it very well… But I was expecting this, with so many new features and changes to aC 2.0′s markup + added functionality and features it was highly unlikely it would ‘work’.

Good news for you however – I’m working on a new version of Access that will be compatible with aC 2.0! Stay tuned :)

  27. Hey Leon!

Excited about the new ActiveCollab 2.0 beta — was wondering if Access works for it and if not, do you have plans to support it? :) I hate to ask, cuz it’s more work for you — but I can’t live without ACCESS — activecollab is not the same without it!

    Nathan

  28. Hi Leon,

    Looks great – cheers.

Little thing; line 1174 (theme.css)… I’ve removed the “margin:0;” cos it makes the headings of the tickets squish up a bit in FF3.

    HTH,
    Cheers,
    Jimbo

  29. Love it:) this theme looks very awesome and much better than the old “acPRO” that Ive had. Thanks so much 4 it:) plus an iPhone theme would be very great :)

    Best wishes,
    Igor
