The Platforms of Magento

Magento comes in 3 different versions which we will look at below. Please remember that the code base of all Magento editions are the same and the general feature list is available in all editions. Only Professional and Enterprise Editions have some extra features.

Magento Community Edition

Magento Enterprise Edition

"Magento EE" is the commercially licensed premium grade Magento product, offering enterprise-only features, guarantees and full product support. It is also now PA-DSS compliant. The license for this edition starts at $12,990 USD/yr. If you are considering the PE or EE verison, ask yourself this question: “Are you selling anything online today?” If the answer is No, then Magento Professional and Enterprise are probably not a good option for you. Until you have sold something, anything, spending money on license fees don’t make sense to us. However, we don’t deny the benefits with the other versions and will discuss which version will best suit you.
