Compatible with activeCollab 1.1.5

Installation

  1. Download Access iPhone and extract to your desktop.
  2. Upload the folder contents to your activeCollab installation. Alternatively, keeping the directory structure the same (ie. yourdomain.com/public/assets/modules/mobile_access/iphone )
  3. Check that the Mobile Access module is enabled in your activeCollab admin section.
  4. That’s it! Now check that your activeCollab site in your iPhone or iPod Touch web browser.

Please remember

Access iPhone is technically a ‘hack’ for activeCollab as currently (activeCollab 1.1.5) does not support multiple mobile device themes. What this means is that you will actually overright the default mobile theme, and when you upgrade your activeCollab installation you will need to re-apply this theme.

Thank you

Joe you’ve done an amazing job of adapting the Access theme for the iPhone – thank you! It looks great and now allows activeCollab users on Desktop + iPhone to experience a seamless and invaluable user interface. I am sure that many people using the Access theme will find this version for the iPhone very useful. I think it would be nice if you want to thank Joe on his own site for the amazing work he’s done, where he has also written an article about the Access iPhone theme.

I look forward to working with you to improve and keep Access iPhone updated with future activeCollab releases!

  1. hey what if I have activeCollab version 1.1.4? Will this work?

  2. Great question Will! To be honest I’m not 100% sure as I haven’t tested Access iPhone on activeCollab 1.1.4 – However, I checked the release notes for aC 1.1.4 and aC 1.1.5 and there is no mention of mobile device or iPhone module changes or updates – so it should work fine, but make a backup of the iPhone directory just in case.

Let me know how it goes for you :)

  3. Wondering if I might be able to take the mobile view of AC and put it in firefox’s sidebar. Is there a URL trick for this?

  4. Hi @ll,

    1. thanks a lot Leon for this awesome credits=) Big honor for me to hear something like that from a designer of your niveau.

    2. @Micah yes of course – and its death-easy! Just open the url http://the-domain-to-your-installation.com/index.php/m and save it to your bookmarks. After saving, move with the mouse over it – right click and choose the attributes. There you can choose “Open in Firefox Sidebar” – If you dont find this Option you should download first the addon: All-in-One Sidebar from the Firefox Addon Directory.

    Hope that helps=)

    Cheers again

  5. @Micah

Try putting /m on the end of your activecollab URL. ie: your.domain.com/m

By doing this activeCollab will load the mobile interface regardless in you’re on your desktop machine or mobile device.

  6. Hi,

Does it allow to modify projects, create new milestones and tasks from your phone?

    Thanks,
    Masha

  7. No it doesn´t. That are functions which couldn´t be allowed by a simple “theme”.

If you want to get access to these functions I would recommend to check off the box “Use mobile Interface” while logging in activeCollab by iPhone.

On this way you can access everything you can access from your PC.

    Hope that helps

  8. How do I get this working on a BlackBerry? Currently I see the standard “AC” centered logo with gray striped background, even though I overwrote the iphone directory.

    Thanks!

  9. Actually, I just figured it out. activecollab > application > modules > mobile_access > init.php

Modify line 69 to include USER_AGENT_BLACKBERRY
Modify line 70 to exclude USER_AGENT_BLACKBERRY

    Works like a charm!
