For some time now Brisbane’s Chinatown Mall has been under going a major facelift. With only a few days until the mall is officially reopened I was lucky enough to be passing by to see some of the light sequences during testing on the new Street Gate entrance.
The Chinatown Mall officially opens this Sunday 14th February 2010 in sync with Chinese New Year Celebrations. More details over at ourbrisbane.com
If you look beyond the ongoing construction in these photo’s you’ll see a rejuvenated Chinatown Mall that I think will bring new life to the area. Pathways are wider, lighting is better, entertainment stations are possible, more seating is introduced, and greenery (noticeably Bamboo) has been added. The only downside I see is that this Mall is still predominately an entrance (from both ends!) to the Chinatown Car Park… What a shame
