Access theme for activeCollab

Here at Creative World we use activeCollab to manage and collaborate with client projects every day. It’s a great application and I don’t know where we’d be without it. Over the last few weeks I’ve been working on a new theme for it which I’ve decided to make available to the aC community.

This theme is called Access. Using web 2.0 influences, Access is designed with a soft, easy to view interface while still highlighting important events and actions to the user.

Features

  • Wide layout – Access uses more of your screen space.
  • Colours! Colours on recent comments, tickets, completed tasks etc. help view different activities.
  • Streamlined dashboard – Improved to see more ‘at a glance’.
  • Highlighted pined objects – Highlighted in red text to show its extra important.
  • Plus LOTS more…

  • Awesome, awesome, superawesome!

  • Thanks for the comment Goran – glad you like it. Means a lot coming from you ;)

  • Did you or are you incorporating a modified iPhone theme as well?

  • Hi Dan – I haven’t made an iPhone theme for Access… YET!

It’s something on the to-do list, but to be honest I don’t think an iPhone theme version of Access will be available until next year at the earliest. To my knowledge, activeCollab dosen’t support choosing themes for iPhone either – So if I made an iPhone version of the theme, it would be a complete replacement of the current iPhone theme.

  • Love the theme, great job!

FYI, the ’status’ module doesn’t work in this theme.

  • @Clay

Can you let me know more about the issue you’re having with the ’status’ module? The status module is working perfectly for me. Cheers.

  • Love it:) this theme looks very awesome and much better than the old “acPRO” that Ive had. Thanks so much 4 it:) plus an iPhone theme would be very great :)

    Best wishes,
    Igor

  • @Igor

Today is your lucky day! Take a look at the Access iPhone theme.

  • Hi Leon,

    Looks great – cheers.

Little thing; line 1174 (theme.css)… I’ve removed the “margin:0;” cos it makes the headings of the tickets squish up a bit in FF3.

    HTH,
    Cheers,
    Jimbo

  • Hi there,

I am so excited to have found this theme! Thank you! I do have one issue I am hoping to find a solution to. My dashboard does not look like the clips you have above. It still has the same organization as the default activecollab theme. Is there something I am missing? *Note: I am using the new ActiveCollab 2.1 corporate. Also note, I am not a programmer.

    =)

    • Hi Mandy :)

The screen shots above are from an activeCollab 1.x install, and since the release of activeCollab 2.x there have A LOT of changes to the layout and functionality, which resulted in a lot of changes to the Access theme.

At the moment we have a beta version available of Access 1.0 which was quickly put together to ‘bridge the gap’ while we work on a more compatible version of Access to work with AC 2.x

      Stay tuned! ;)

  • Thank you! I am just now learning how awesome this theme is! I LOVE the look! Can I make a couple of requests?.. Take what you wish and blow the rest away.

    * Is is possible to have the “manage” tabs look different from the main tabs? Ie. in the Pages section there are my tabs that I labeled and then there is the “Manage Pages” at the bottom. Can get messy with customers and clients flipping through the tabs. Maybe a faded grey would convey this is a different sort of tab.
    * Somehow my customers and freelancers get a little lost from the main dashboard to getting to their project and finding which tabs to focus on. The hierarchy seems to not be suggestive enough if that makes any sense. I don’t know what this would look like.. but just my two cents.

Many thanx for adding to a wonderful application like ActiveCollab. This made my day today. I was spending hours trying to fumble around with my limited css knowledge – so MUCH appreciated.

  • ..one more “wish list” idea to add to the theme..

    * The ideal situation is for my clients and freelancers being able to login and know exactly what is what without too much explanation. One thing I find not self-evident is the Ticket list looks one dimentional. I have to tell them to click on the name so they can see the subtasks. It needs some visual cue to let them know to click on it, an “expand” button would be even nicer.

    xo

  • OK. Last one, I promise. I just posted my wish list on ActiveCollab and has said I couldn’t do these things. So here is a link to the list: http://www.activecollab.com/forums/post/20355/#post20355 Take what you like and blow the rest away.

  • Hi,
Great skin! We’ve got it running almost perfectly on aC 2.1.1

One thing though, the assignments.gif doesn’t show. Any chance of help?

    • Hi Doug,
Yes this is a bug – basically the spelling of assignments changed slightly between versions – To fix this, open theme.css file and around line 317

      change
      #menu_item_assignemnts

      to
      #menu_item_assignments

This bug is resolved in the next Access theme release :)

  • is this going to work on the old aC? 0.7?

  • forget it, i looked at the compatibility! thanks

  • Hello,

Just wanted to let you know, that the latest aC 2.2.2 update breaks the theme’s buttons for save/add etc. Any chance of fixing that?

    Best,
    Sebastian

    • Hey Sebastian,

Yes I noticed this just before too and just made a quick hot fix post on the activecollab forums.

To solve the button issue in Access 1.1 & AC2.2.2, ADD the following code to the public/assets/themes/Access/theme.css file

      #auth_dialog button span span, button span span {background:none;padding:0;}
(Updated 16 Oct 09 with additional style)

We’ll include this fix in the next Access theme release :)

  • Leon,

Thanks for the quick update and for the great theme!

    Best, Sebastian

  • Hey Leon,

Remember in the early version of Access the different types of communication had the little color label indicating if it was a “ticket” “task” etc — would it be difficult to bring that back as an option in the admin area or alternative version of the new AC?

I’ve been missing those, it made following the recent activity a lot easier to view — I was thinking about tweaking my ACcess install to do it but since you’re the master I thought maybe you’d have a quick solution.

    Thanks!

  • That’s great! Looking forward to it — you always have great surprises :) If you need help testing let me know :D

  • Hey Leon — While we’re chatting, I saw someone posted updates to the MarkOS ticket hacks, we’re finding a need for this functionality… I was trying to get an idea if Access already supports this… I know you mentioned in a previous release you didn’t have time to address it. Thanks! http://www.activecollab.com/forums/post/22416/#post22416

  • I am selling my copy of ActiveCollab if anyone is interested. I already contacted support and they said I could transfer my license. I still have 4 months left of updates. Selling for $390. If you are interested contact me at customerservice@localwebconnect.com.

    =)
